Singer-songwriter-guitarist-performer Eli “Paperboy” Reed‘s new album Nights Like This is out now on iTunes. Produced by Reed with his guitarist and longtime collaborator, Ryan Speaker, it represents a sonic evolution beyond the singer’s soulful roots, taking his affinity for classic R&B and blending it with the ebullience of modern pop music. As tracks like the single “Nights Like This” attest, Reed’s signature witty vocal rasp, love of a sturdy groove, and undeniable tunefulness remain. He’s simply expanded his musical palette. This DJ promo also features “WooHoo” and “Shock to the System,” which was co-written with Michael Fitzpatrick of Fitz and the Tantrums.
Note: Let us know if you’d like to receive an Eli “Paperboy” Reed vinyl 45 single!

Gilles Peterson‘s extraordinary new record is an incredible journey through the different flavours of authentic Brazilian music culture, from its majestic heritage to its super-dynamic present. Gilles turned producer for this ambitious venture, setting up camp in Rio de Janeiro with young UK production associates Sam Shepherd (Floating Points); Dilip Harris and Rob Gallagher from 2 Banks of 4; and Kassin from Rio collective Orquestra Imperial. Together they set about recording all-new material with a stellar line-up of Brazilian talent, under the name Sonzeira. The result is an inspirational portrait of a nation in sound. At its heart are mesmerizing vocal performances from superstars young and old, including City of God actor and singer Seu Jorge, and the grande dame of samba, 76-year-old powerhouse Elza Soares.
